At last, GPs and practice managers now have a clear reference on all matters relating to practice finance.  The need could not be greater.  As primary care continues to evolve, more staff are employed and new services are offered, sound financial management is essential if pitfalls are to be avoided.  Although this book is written by specialists in the increasing complexity of practice finance, they have used their expertise to produce a readily-accessible guide for non-specialists, providing answers to routine queries and illustrating typical situations with worked examples.

"More than ever it is inappropriate to expect high earnings for just working hard as a good doctor.  Nor is it appropriate to expect high earnings by operating systems that suited the old contract.  The most financially successful medical practices must be prepared for change, willing to embrace new opportunities, and competent to set up the right systems."  Mike Gilbert, in the introduction.
