GPs get new Negotiating Team

GPs in England have a new negotiating team for their contract and other issues affecting their work.

The GPC England executive team is Dr Dean Eggitt, Dr Kieran Sharrock and Dr Richard Van Mellaerts.

They replace outgoing executive committee members and past chair Dr Richard Vautrey, Dr Mark Sanford-Wood and Dr Krishna Kasaraneni.

Recently appointed GPC chair Dr Farah Jameel said the new team would be working at ‘a pivotal time’ for patients and the profession.

‘I would like to thank outgoing chair Richard Vautrey and my outgoing executive team, Mark Sanford-Wood and Krishna Kasaraneni, for their outstanding commitment to general practice spanning many years and throughout the pandemic.

‘As I said in my opening speech as chair, it is essential that we work with the Government to begin to rebuild general practice, so that it can be there to care for our patients. With such experienced leaders supporting the committee, I have every confidence that we will continue to represent GPs and their teams, and through them our patients, on the issues that matter most.’
