Special Contracts For Special GP Practices

GP practices could get customised contracts to cater for ’atypical’ populations, according to a report.

Some rural practices and those with high numbers of homeless people would be among those that qualify, according to Pulse.

GPC chair Dr Chaand Nagpaul told the publication it was not possible to have a single national contract that could do justice to the specific needs of practices with certain atypical populations.

He added: ’So in some cases it may be possible to look at a contract designed for the needs of certain categories of practices. In other cases the atypical nature may be very specific to the practice, which would need a very particular arrangement.’

The plans are being discussed by the GPC and NHS England, Pulse reported.
